Good Wednesday morning, December 17th. Happy hump day. We've got showers this morning. It's quite mild, windy, and getting colder this afternoon, falling to minus 2. The dollar is 72.62 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. On just one week to go and it's Christmas Eve. Canada Post said it's ready for the holiday rush and expects to deliver letters or parcels on time coming out of labor turmoil over the past two years. The Postal Service said it continues to process and deliver new items safely and quickly and that mail and parcels are moving as expected. Last month, Canada Post and the union representing mail carriers agreed in principle to a set of new contracts suspending rotating strikes. OPP and federal border officials are expected to provide details this morning about a lengthy investigation into an alleged auto theft operation. OPP and Canada Border Services Agency will hold a news conference just after 10. They say the probe targeted a criminal organization facilitating the movement of stolen vehicles to overseas destinations. The World Happiness Report suggests young people have become Canada's unhappiest age group in a complete reversal of long-standing trends. As recently as 2011, those under 30 were the happiest. The reason now, too much information is to blame. According to one of the researchers, the world is so connected that crises affect each other more than they have in the past. She says there's also a lot more information available and our brains aren't equipped to be in non-stop crisis mode. The Ontario government said Olivia clinched the top spot among baby girls for the 16th year in a row. Noah was the most popular for baby boys for the 6th year in a row. While Sophia was so nice, it's in there twice. The top 10 list looks like this, starting with #1. Olivia Charlotte, Sophia, Amelia, Emma, Ava, Maya, Sophia spelled a different way, Maya, and Isla. Now for boys, the most popular names from #1, Noah, Liam, Theodore, Oliver, Jack, Henry, Benjamin, Lucas, Muhammad, and Leo. Late 99-3 Sports NHL last night. The Leafs edge Chicago 3-2. Edmonton beat Pittsburgh. Vancouver beat the Rangers. Calgary and Montreal both lost. Other winners, Colorado, Detroit, Boston, Minnesota, Columbus. Leafs are in Washington tomorrow at 7. PWHL tonight. Toronto hosts Montreal at 6.30. OHL tonight. Owen Sound hosts London at 7. And in the NBA tomorrow, the Raptors are in Milwaukee at 8.
