The names of the pilots killed in Sunday's airplane crash in New York's LaGuardia Airport have been released. One pilot identified as Mackenzie Gunther from the Toronto area and the other Antoine Ferret from just southwest of Montreal. The 2 pilots died as they were landing on a flight from Montreal when the plane crashed into a fire truck that was given the go-ahead to cross a busy runway to respond to another emergency. Investigators are looking into why. The daughter of a flight attendant on the Air Canada plane, meanwhile, said it's a miracle her mother survived, saying she was still strapped in her seat when she was thrown from the jetliner and found in debris by first responders. She underwent surgery for multiple fractures but is expected to be okay. OPP have charged a driver from Grey Highlands accused of knocking down a hydro pole in Southgate. Police were called Friday after 4 for reports a single vehicle collided with a hydro pole at an intersection just outside of Mount Forest. A 23-year-old from Grey Highlands charged with impaired and dangerous operation. Their driver's license was suspended for 90 days, vehicle impounded for a week. A pipeline leak in Sarnia has been found nine days after a sheen was spotted on the St. Clair River. Sun Canadian Pipeline said it shut the line down. Cleanup efforts are now underway in the city's petrochemical hub. Amjenong First Nations said they were left in the dark about the spill's scope. And the Ontario government plans to take over the Toronto Island Airport. Premier Ford said the move to claim Billy Bishop as a special economic zone will boost jobs and allow for long-planned expansions. Toronto's mayor calls it a land grab, said the public deserves a say on developments to the waterfront. Opposition leaders are criticizing the plan as a power grab, raising concerns about oversight, noise, and increased pollution in the downtown core. Light 99-3 Sports, NBA last night.
