The dollar 72.62 cents U.S. I'm Stacey Englehart. with Christmas just a week away, we're enjoying above average temperatures, but much of Northern Ontario under a winter weather warning. Environment Canada said a blast of snow could bring upwards of 50 centimeters by tomorrow. Now for areas in and around Meaford, the mild weather doesn't last long. We could see snow squalls in up to 15 centimeters tomorrow. JD will have details on the forecast coming up. Six people facing arson charges after homes in a new subdivision southwest of Bury were set on fire. OPP executed search warrants in several locations, including Tottenham. The investigation began in the fall of 2024 after multiple unoccupied homes were set on fire. Five people arrested after police say they stole 2 million worth of merchandise from an Amazon warehouse. Police in Durham said the investigation started last month after investigators began looking into two employees who allegedly stole merchandise over a two-year period from a warehouse. OPP arrested 20 people, recovered more than 300 vehicles, in what they're calling an organized crime network that spanned across Canada and several countries. Project Chickadee began in August 2023. Police say the thieves used freight companies and fraudulent documents to ship vehicles to several countries in the Middle East and Western Africa through ports in Montreal, Vancouver and Halifax. The suspects face 134 charges. Light 99, three sports, NHL last night. Winnipeg lost to St. Louis, but winners included Florida, Utah, Carolina, New Jersey. Leafs will be in Washington at 7 tonight. PWHL Toronto lost to Montreal 2-1 in a shootout. In the OHL, Owen Sound lost to London 5-4 in overtime. Tonight, Barry hosts Sudbury at 7. In the NBA, the Raptors are in Milwaukee tonight at 8.
